BORND L303 BACKLIGHT KEYBOARD Data Commentary
PROS:
Gorgeous Full-Size, Ultra-Thin Backlit Multi-Media WINDOWS keyboard
Low Profile “Scissor Stand Architecture Keys”
- perfect for the typing enthusiast who enjoys the near silent, solid
tactile feel of mechanical switch keyboards minus the
stress of extreme key height, force, and sound of deep depression keys
3-Color
Backlight options – Florescent Green, Dark Blue, and Teal Blue (paperwork says
Cyan, which is Red, and online pictures show Red) but my particular keyboard
has Teal Blue instead of Cyan. In my opinion, the Teal Green is a much better,
gentler color on the eyes and brain, yet just as bright and vivid as the
Florescent Green and Dark Blue colors.
Indicator Lights for CAPS
LOCK, NUM LOCK, AND BACKLIGHT
Rubber foot pads for solid, sturdy
keyboard placement in flat position
Pull Out “Adjustable Stand” for more
comfortable, convenient usage
USB wired
(circled-X) button, designed
to “stop current web page.”
Generous size "Enter" button
Solid, sturdy build construction
English translation describing keyboard as well as Chinese
CONS:
Tiny backspace button
Exceptionally tiny UNrubberized pull out
feet/kickstands - so tiny, in fact, and incredibly housed, that they are barely noticeable. They are also quite difficult to open out for use.
No Sleep button
Scroll Lock houses Backlight Switch
(Circled - X) button doesn't work
Home Page button does what the (circled-X) button is supposed to do - "close out web page" but it does not go back to "home page".
Not Soft-Touch
Personal Assessment and Commentary regarding the Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard:
Product purchased through Amazon and arriving as scheduled. Shipping box undamaged and seemingly oversized for actual product due to keyboard and keyboard's retail box being extremely thin. Keyboard's personal retail box taped and very difficult to open.
To date it is
the best desktop computer keyboard I have ever had the pleasure of using. It’s thin and
relatively quiet. Keystroke could be better, far more light and smooth for my personal taste and style. But overall
it’s an excellent keyboard, especially for those typing enthusiasts who must have the solid tactile feel of a mechanical keyboard without it being one.
The keystroke on this Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard
feels very much like older model mechanical keyboards, requiring not quite as
much effort to depress the keys. Ironic given the keys are touted as being “Silent
Scissor Stand Architecture.” The box reads that “Scissor stand architecture
keys increase typing speed by 40% and reduce typing noise by 70%.” This might be the case for some but it is not for me. To me the
keys are stiff, therefore requiring a bit of heavy pressure. However, despite
this idiosyncrasy, the keys are exceptionally quiet. Not totally quiet, as
there is a slight deep sounding click once they hit bottom. Thankfully, it is
not an obnoxious sounding loud tonal click, or as some newer gaming keyboards
have, a loud high pitched sounding click. While this Bornd keyboard is not completely quiet, it is indeed nearly
silent. I should know, I hate keyboard clatter, and this is nothing in comparison to most. This is
a particular favorable feature to those of us who enjoy writing for extended
periods of time or who work in an office setting.
For those who enjoy
having that heavy tactile feel just so they know they have actually hit the
keys just so, this is perfect for them. I personally rather much prefer the
extremely light touch, very smooth, crisp action, silent keyboard experience like I
get using my Toshiba Satellite Laptop. I’ve had it for eight months now, but
the moment my hands touched its keyboard to do what I best, I was in Heaven. My
typing skills immediately improved by leaps and bounds my very first time putting my hands to work on it. Now I am on a search
for such a keyboard to pair with my Dell All-in-One desktop, since the keyboard
that came with it was substantially sub-par and way beneath Dell’s usual
standards. Thus far though, this Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard is as close as I've come to personally realizing that dream. Though it's not my ultimate dream keyboard, I still like it very much and am not inclined to exchange it for something else just yet. Maybe sometime, but not right now. Besides, I still have to check out its longevity, though I have no doubt this keyboard will most certainly hold up to withstand the test of time.
The
Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard also offers a particularly sweet backlight
feature. It has a 3-color changeable light controlled by the Scroll Lock key.
Colors are stated as being Cyan, (which is Red), Green, and Blue on
the
accompanying paperwork. However, the colors are in functioning order - 1. Green;
2. Dark Blue; and 3. A very soothing Teal Blue. You have the
option to work with backlighting or not depending on your personal preference
and situation. It is also equipped with the standard Caps Lock and Number’s Lock
Indicator Light, along with having an indicator Light for the Backlight feature.
The Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard does come equipped with an
optional height adjustment. It can be used in the flat position or propped up
by opening out the very tiny feet
adjoined to it. The adjoining feet on
the Bornd keyboard are exceptionally tiny and quite difficult to open out. The feet are so small that they are difficult to even
see. The feet also lack rubber backing for more secure stability when using
them. Were their housing frame a bit bigger, then the feet could be dipped in
rubberized adhesive to correct this issue. However, the rubber footing that is a
part of this keyboard is more than adequate to keep your keyboard firmly in place
if you prefer the flat position.
The Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard is a full size ultra-thin multi-media WINDOWS keyboard with truly only two real
cons to it - (four, if you include the "home" button and "circled-X" button malfunctions) . -- 1. Its backspace key is exceptionally tiny. It’s the very same size as
every other typical standard size key, except for the generously sized L-shaped “enter” key and standard size“spacebar.” 2. It does not have a sleep button. Not a deal breaker, but a sleep button is
a nice feature to have on a multi-media keyboard. 3. Ironically this keyboard does
sport a (circled-x) button, designed to “stop current web page.” Some might
find this a handy feature to have, but it’s something I have never come across
before so I don't quite understand it. I'm sure I will soon enough, though it's not all that important to my personal use. Trying it out as I write this blog, I can't tell that it actually does anything. I can't tell that it does anything on my email page either. Doesn't seem to do anything on the home page. Doesn't seem to do anything when you Google anything either. So whether this circled-X button actually works or not I can't actually say. 4. Home button seems to do what the circled-X button is supposed to do. It actually closes out your web page but it does not take you "home" or to your desktop Window's Home Page.
Despite these last few idiosyncrasies, I highly recommend getting the Bornd L303 Backlight Keyboard. Despite these few minor issues I give this keyboard a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. Should anything change then I will most certainly re-evaluate my assessment and update my commentary. But as it stands for now, this first day out of the box, I rate this a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
